The Korean alphabet of 1443 shaped each letter after the mouth that makes its sound. Applied to Latin: the lip sounds b p m w f v are drawn with round ends, the throat sounds g k c q h with small serifs, and the tongue sounds with square ends, so letters that sound alike look alike.
